DirectivesA directive is a set of instructions, conditions and actions that are to be applied to one or more entities during various points in their lifetimes as determined by process flow or trigger events. Directives bring order and shape to the cybersea. A sea free of directives is a sea in which anything can happen, both good and bad. A sea laden with directives will be viscous. The sea administrator must balance directives with freedom as the purpose of the sea dictates. As directives are applied to sets, a single entity can have multiple directives applied to it. Since this opens the possibility for conflicting directives, directives can be either specifically ordered, or an ordering algorithm can be applied. For example, a directive could apply to the citizen set (all entities), a second could apply to all JPEG matter, and a third to all entities owned by a certain user. There are many types of directives, and they can be grouped into sets and have their own managers, i.e. licencing directives, security directives, interaction directives. Blueprints can be distributed with a directive document, a user could buy a blueprint in a dispenser container (allowing them to create a limited number of entities), or they could get a rental, where a entity is hired for a time period and then expires. |
